As we move ever closer into the new year, now is a time to look back at our team’s triumphs. So where do I begin?
This year we’ve been successful in defending an appeal put forward by Wilkins Kennedy, the top 20 accounting firm we litigated against on behalf of our client, Harlequin Property. The case was named as one of the biggest of the year by The Lawyer, and we’re extremely proud to have played such a pivotal role in finding the right result for our client.
Second to that, we’ve been forced to defend a major damages based agreement (DBA) in court. ELS legal was one of the first firms in the UK to take on a commercial DBA since their introduction in 2013, and, as a result, our new knowledge in this area is essentially unique. Going into 2018, we’ve got a number of exciting events lined up to discuss our success and share our stories of high-value performance based billing.
Elsewhere, our commercial and real estate departments have been moving from strength to strength, having expanded the team with a number of highly talented solicitors.
And we can’t talk about 2017 without mentioning our “special relationship” with China, which has seen ELS Legal develop an invaluable full-service offering for Asian clients looking to do business in London and the rest of the UK.
We also took part in the London Legal Walk, raising more than £1,000 for VICTA and the visually impaired children and young people it supports.
2017 has certainly been a year to remember and one of the firm’s best – but now we all look forward to a well-deserved rest.
Merry Christmas and a happy New Year!
