Matthew Beilin

Matthew was born and raised in Liverpool and went to university in Leeds where he studied Law and French. He spent one year studying French Law at the Jean Moulin University in Lyon, France and completed the LPC at the College of Law in Chester. Matthew joined ELS in 2010 as a paralegal and completed his training contract in April 2014. Matthew currently works in the litigation department at ELS.

Matthew often participates in team sports such as tennis and football. He also enjoys playing guitar and attending concerts.

Recent experience

Acted on behalf of a hotel resort developer in a professional negligence claim against a “Top 20” Firm of accountants. This case was one of The Lawyer Magazine’s “Top 20 Litigation Cases of 2016.”

Reached a settlement on behalf of a Canadian SPV in a claim against its former directors for breach of fiduciary duties in relation to an investment into an Ethiopian mining company.

Obtained permission from the Court of Appeal to appeal a Judgment striking out an individual’s claim that his former spouse had breached her fiduciary duties by selling their former matrimonial home at an undervalue.
