Richard Spector

Richard is a Partner in the litigation department. Richard specialises in commercial litigation across a number of sectors and often involving international elements to the dispute. Richard has acted in a number of high profile cases and was heavily involved in the litigation that arose from the collapse of Lehman Brothers. The administrators of Lehman chose Richard and his team to be involved in resolving what should happen to the money left in Lehman’s client pool. Richard has been involved in number of cross border litigation cases and recently acted successfully for the Claimants in Harlequin Property (SVG) Ltd & Anr v Wilkins Kennedy in which Richard’s client was awarded over £10,000,000 in damages and costs. The case was listed in the Lawyer top 20 cases of 2016. Richard’s style is to be strong, focused and persistent to achieve his clients’ aims.

Outside of work: Richard’s interests include politics and food. Richard is also an avid football fan and is enjoying watching his team, AFC Bournemouth, finally enjoying success.

Recent experience

Richard is acting for clients in a number of high value and complex ongoing high court cases. Richard travels extensively to the Far East and recently represented one of the leading banks in China in respect of a high value transaction with a leading US Bank.

Richard was the lead partner in the recent case of Imad Al-Nesnas v Mahmood Al-Najar in which his client was awarded over £2m for fraudulent misrepresentation.

Richard was the lead partner acting for the Claimant in the successful professional negligence case of Harlequin Property SVG v Wilkins Kennedy in the Technology and Construction Court in which ELS recovered over £8m for its client.
